Welcome

Office of the Guardian for Children and Young People

We’re so excited you want to

Get Involved

You’re here because you want to have a say in child protection and youth justice in South Australia.

Listen

We want all kids and young people who have been in care or detention to have a chance to share their ideas and help improve the way things work in South Australia.

To do this, we invite a group of children and young people to share their thoughts and experiences with the Guardian.

These groups are called AYIN (Advisory Youth Influence Network).

Your ideas can help other children and young people have a better experience.

There also opportunities to be part of events and volunteer with our office if your interested.

Contact our Youth Engagement Coordinator using the form at the end of this page to find out more.

Where does your feedback go?

When you share your thoughts with us, the Guardian may share it with the department, Minister or other members of parliament. But we will always check with you before sharing information with others.

Projects we’ve done

These are some of the reports we put together with the quotes of children and young people who’ve been in care and youth detention. They have helped improve things for other children in care and youth detention.

I have the right to be safe and well cared for.

As a child and young person in care, you have special rights. These are rules that should be followed so you can grow up happy, healthy and achieving your dreams.

If you feel that your rights are not being met, and you are not being listened to, we can help.Â
